Seven,Ten Over Ten of Nigerian Fashion by Samuel King

Greetings, beautiful ladies and gentle men, ambitious boys and girls. My humble self is here again.Happy New year to you all and it is good to be back after a long time. I was ill but i am glad to be whole and back again.
Now, to my write up for today, i decided to use the word humble because these people i am about to disclose to you are humble, creative, pace setters and most importantly Nigerians. I personally refer to them as the Mothers and Fathers of Nigerian Fashion brand or package as it were.
My little cousin asked me "What is the meaning of Versace" i looked at him and i was like really!!!!! but hey it is better to ask and be in the light than to remain in ignorance and be illuminated in darkness. Just then it occurred to me that most times, we know the names of major fashion brands.Mainly by what we see on television,on social handles, musical lyrics and so on, but we most times don't know the gifted minds behind the various fashion brands. So i came up with this write up Seven, Ten Over Ten of Nigerian Fashion.

Bella Naija, i am sure most people would agree with me that, that site name is more popular than the quite looking lady. The fashion inspiring site is the work of Uche Eze now Mrs Uche Pedro and her team. Now i am certain, that when it comes to the day to day know how in the Nigerian fashion world,Nigerian are swift to refer to Bella Naija. For her effort and tireless work to inspire and show case Nigerian fashion. I say she is Ten over Ten. For those who don't know this humble mistress see for yourself the beautiful African Lady

MRS UCHE PEDRO of BELLA NAIJA

Another fashion gifted hand you may not know when you see him is Frank Oshodi of the House of Bunor and Fashion designing. His story is one of which i refer back to and marvel. From starting as a model of fashion household names like Dakova,Nikki Africanna  and others, to been a model manger. Now that was just the beginning, and here is why: this Gentle man was the make-up artist and designer that helped beautify our Nigerian beauty, Agbani Darego at the beauty pageant when she won and reign as Miss World 2001,pretty cool right? In case you don't know Queen Agbani Darego has launched her own fashion line called AD.If you ask me i would say she was inspired by him. Now i could go on and on about this man but let me just sum it all up by saying he is Ten over Ten. Behold the man himself

                         MR FRANK OSHODI

Mrs Deola Sagoe,i am speechless on what to say about this wonder woman. She is a typical example of what a man can do a woman can do better. Mrs Deola's expression of Africa,Nigeria through fashion has gained her international fans like Oprah and Will Smith. Now these are foreign  icons who recognize this virtuous woman of Africa to mention a few. With her success and fame she has also been able to give back to her Africans through the program "Catwalk the World: Fashion for Food" which was initiated by the 'United Nations World Food Program'. I am sure you see the reason why i rate her Ten over Ten.Behold the MAMA of Nigerian Fashion

Mr Ohimai Atafo, is a respected gentleman by all standards.I refer to him as "The hope of Nigerian male fashion,The mirror though which Nigerians see Man's unique and ever present personality".It is no news that when it comes to fashion, the wonderfully made Skirts tend to sideline we trousers but Mr Mai Atafo 's Mai Atafo Inspired clothing outfit gives Nigerian,African men a look to look out for. Again it can be said that this man has brought to Africa what we look for out its shores. With his wedding line 'Weddings by Mai" Nigerians,African and other continent can envision the ideal wedding look. Certainly he deserves nothing less than Ten over Ten

Folake Folarin Coker is the magic woman behind  the world famous brand Tiffany Amber. Yes!!!!! tiffany Amber was founded by our very own Mrs Folake Folarin Coker. Influenced by her voyage as it were to different countries, one i personally refer to as an admired adventure. She developed a curiosity for cultures which she later channeled into her love for fashion, finding expression in creativity. She is globally recognized for her depths of colorful expression.

'Made in Africa' created by Vogue Italia in partnership with Yoox.com can be credited to her. Now talk about giving back, that is definitely the way friends. Talk
of unique pieces for women, call Tiffany Amber. No more long story, she is simply Ten over Ten. Behold the waving flag of Nigerian creativity, the one and only

Your work will speak for you is no,just saying when you talk of Mr Duro Olowu. In his own case i will let Google tell it all about him just search for his name on Google.  His designs as i have seen for my self can be characterized as colorful, controversial combinations of African prints. Here is a tip to this deserving Ten over Ten man. The first lady of America,Mrs Michelle obama wears Duro Olowu. That been said behold he who does not give dictate what women wear but gives them options on what to wear.

             MR DURO OLOWU

I left the best for last because this Woman is not just one i admire, she is a mentor, mother to me. Let me tell you a little about Mum. She is simple, humble, hard working, caring, all you can seek in a mother, she has got it. People ask me why i always see the best in the most doubtful situation,i don't talk but smile because the always remind me of the Woman who knew little about fashion then but today is the talk of African fashion. She is the MAMA,QUEEN of ANKARA prints. Jewel by Lisa is the brand but Mummy,Mrs Lisa Folawiyo is the brain. Her niche is the transformation of the Ankara wax prints into a bejewelled treasure. Prints from the fabric is cut and delicately embellished for an added elegance to what can only be known as the Nigerian 'national' fabric. She has also ventured into the production of her own line of fabrics and accessories ranging from jewelleries to purse and much more. Her diffusion line 'J Label' promotes the Nigerian culture and flare with the combination of Afro Pop and urban cool designs that is very amazing. If i continue i would seem biased.Let me just make know Mummy, her highness,Jewel by lisa
